I am definitely a breakfast person, and although I am totally satisfied with an omelette or even some fruit and oatmeal, I must tell you about the best French Toast I've ever eaten. Here's the thing... Brockton Villa's "Coast Toast" is much different than the traditional french toast you find at most restaurants. First of all, they use a big slice of french bread. Secondly, they soak the bread for longer (and they use orange juice, vanilla, and orange flavoring to add some flavor). It ends up coming out to your table as a thick-cut-orange-flavored-souffle-like version of french toast. The other cool part of Brockton Villa is it's location. Brockton Villa is located on the side of the hill in La Jolla with an amazing view of the ocean. If you have to wait for a table, you can walk across the street and most likely see some sea lions, birds, and maybe even some dolphins (and if you're really lucky, a gray whale). You can sit inside or outside, and they have a great menu full of all the traditional breakfast items plus several of their own breakfast recipes (you also can't go wrong with Brockton Villa's Chilaquiles... breakfast nachos). Last time I checked, they stop serving breakfast at 11:30am but they serve Coast Toast all day. They also have a nice lunch menu. The only thing I ask, if you are planning to go to Brockton Villa for breakfast, please invite me to go with!
