I knew that I wanted an exclusive buyer's agent long before I ever contacted him, especially since I was a first-time home buyer. I knew I wouldn't trust someone who also works for sellers. Justin was very open about his compensation, and I think when he showed me the place that I ended up buying, he mentioned that the buyer's agent would get a lower commission than is typical, which might have led many agents not to show it. That's obviously speculation, but it told me a lot that he took me there anyways!
When I first contacted him, I really just wanted to get a feel for the market, look at some properties, and not make an offer for a couple months. I was concerned that he would think I was wasting his time, but he didn't rush me at all. I ended up buying a place much faster than I had planned, but I appreciated that he was willing to work with my anticipated timeline.
Since this is my first home, I don't have any basis for comparing him with any other agents, but I have had friends complain that their agents didn't drive a very hard bargain. I felt like Justin did. He got me enough credits that I didn't have to pay any closing costs, and to the point that the sellers got frustrated, so I was satisfied that he got me every penny possible without running the risk of the contract falling through.
Justin was very knowledgeable about the process, and he patiently explained everything I needed to know. He was present for the inspection and loan signing, and he was very effective at communicating with me and all the other parties involved.
He's also maintained communication since closing and has continued to offer any assistance that I need.
He was great. You can't go wrong with him as your agent.
