If you've ever been to Pacific Beach in San Diego, you've probably seen the line of people extending out the door and around the corner from Kono's. There always seems to be one (a line), no matter what time of day. This restaurant has become a favorite among both locals and out-of-town visitors. Many look forward to their next trip to San Diego just to get their Kono's. Once you make it to the front of the line, you will order your food at the counter (and either watch the chefs make it for you or go grab a table outside and wait for the server to bring it to you - don't worry, they always find you). If you're a little bit lucky you will find a table across the boardwalk on the ocean-front patio, where you can wait for your food while watching surfers and people on the beach.
Wondering what to order? You really can't go wrong. Many people love Kono's for breakfast (they have good breakfast burritos and "Big Breakfast" plates), but they are also popular for lunch (try one of their burgers... perhaps the Mexi-Burger).
The only bad thing about Kono's is the parking situation. If you go on a busy beach-day, it may take you a long time to find an open parking spot (just keep driving up and down the side streets until you find a spot). If you live in or are staying in Mission Beach or Pacific Beach, then you can just walk. There's something magical about this little joint. I guess it's no secret... No wonder there's always a line!
